The blood banana, is a variety of the wild banana Musa acuminata native to Sumatra, Indonesia. The blood banana is an ornamental plant, named for the dark red patches on its leaves.
On mature plants, orange or red flowers develop into inedible orange fruits.



Grows about 4-6  feet tall.   USDA Zones 7 and up, annual or potted plant elsewhere.
